Important Instruction.
1. Complete this work in your respective chemistry note book.
2. Draw well labelled diagram

1. Express the following temperatures in Kelvin scale.
(i) 32 degree celcius                     (ii) 473 degree celcius

2. Why does the level of water not change when sugar is dissolved in it?

3. The melting points of three solids X, Y and Z are 298K, 310K, and 400K, respectively. Arrange these in increasing order of their interparticle force of attraction.

4. "Osmosis is a special kind of diffusion". Comment.

5. State the characteristics of gas used in supplying oxygen cylinders to hospitals.

6. When solid melts, its temperature remains the same. Give reason.

7. Why is oxygen called a gas? Give two reasons.

8. Define Evaporation. How surface area and wind speed affect the rate of evaporation? Explain.

9. Give reasons:
(i) Why does ice float on water?
(ii) Why does a gas fill the vessel completely in which it is kept?
(iii) What happens when acetone is poured on the palm?

10. You are provided with the mixture of naphthalene and ammonium chloride by your teacher. Suggest an activity to separate them with well labelled diagram.

11. Arrange Iron nail, kerosene, oxygen gas in the increasing order of 
(i) force of attraction
(ii) density

12. (a) State one property of solid does not possess and one property of liquid which solid does not possess.
(b) Write full form of (i) LPG     (ii) CNG

13. Can a rubber band change its shape on stretching? Is it a solid?

14. Define Latent heat of Fusion. What is the latent heat of fusion of ice?

15. Why do the doctors advise to put strips of wet cloth on the forehead of a person having high fever?
